Who Benefits??? |
|
Our Knox County Teachers Have Benefited…. |
|
Students benefit… because teachers are provided with the proper tools so students may study and participate in everyday learning opportunities.
Teachers benefit… by waiting in line for lots of free new and slightly used basic school supplies, arts and crafts materials, classroom equipment, and more. Teachers may find all sorts of unusual and fun items to enhance their classroom and gain new ideas for projects for their students.
Businesses benefit… by having a place to send discarded or stored usable items and receive a tax deduction. Businesses often discard materials they no longer need (advertising items listing an old name or address such as letterhead, pens, pencils, envelopes, etc.) or discontinued items that may be used as creative classroom projects and innovative teaching aids. Donors benefit from knowing they have helped to improve the opportunity to learn for all children.
Communities benefit… by keeping usable items out of the landfills and storage rooms, saving dollars and resources! The depot also helps free up schools’ funds - and personal funds - for other educational projects. |
|
When the teachers finish their shopping (for free) they are asked to complete a list all items they are taking, and give approximate values for each item.
To date, (May 2011) the depot has served…
Over 8,000 Knox County Public School Teachers and Teachers’ Assistants (many having multiple visits),
And they estimate they have received $2,172,373.54 worth of free classroom materials. |
